The raw materials for daily toilet paper are mainly divided into two categories: virgin pulp and recycled pulp. Recycled pulp needs to be carefully selected, and only products that meet national standards can be used in limited quantities, otherwise there may be health hazards.

1、 Classification of Core Raw Materials for Daily Toilet Paper

At present, there are three main raw materials for toilet paper on the market, with significant differences in composition and characteristics, which directly affect the safety and experience of the product.

Native wood pulp: made from unprocessed wood as raw material, with long and pure fibers and few impurities. The toilet paper produced with it is delicate, soft, has good toughness, is not easy to fall off, and has high safety. It is currently the mainstream and high-quality raw material, suitable for long-term use by the whole family, especially for sensitive groups such as the elderly and children.

Native bamboo pulp: made from bamboo as raw material, it belongs to a type of native pulp. It comes with natural antibacterial properties, delicate fibers, and bamboo has a short growth cycle, strong renewability, and outstanding environmental protection properties. It has gradually become a popular raw material, suitable for consumers who pay attention to environmental protection and natural properties.

Recycled pulp (waste paper pulp): Using recycled paper as raw material, including discarded newspapers, magazines, cardboard boxes, and even some recycled toilet paper. This type of raw material is processed through processes such as crushing, deintercalation, and bleaching. The fibers are short and contain many impurities, and the cost is much lower than that of virgin pulp. It is often used to make low-priced toilet paper.

2、 Can recycled pulp toilet paper be used with confidence?

It cannot be generalized. The key is to determine whether it meets national standards and the source of raw materials. It needs to be judged from the following two points:

Priority should be given to products labeled as "compliant with GB/T 20810": The country has clear standards for recycled pulp toilet paper. As long as the packaging is labeled with "GB/T 20810" (a specialized standard for household toilet paper) and no fluorescent whitening agent is detected, and the total number of bacterial colonies meets the standard, it is considered a qualified product and can be used for daily cleaning (such as wiping hands and tables). But even if it is qualified, its paper is usually hard and prone to shedding fluff, and it is not recommended for wiping the face or private parts.

Be wary of non-standard and unknown sources of recycled pulp products: Some cheap recycled pulp toilet paper is compressed cost and may use unqualified raw materials such as medical waste paper and contaminated waste paper. If not thoroughly disinfected during processing, it may contain residual heavy metals, bacteria, or excessive fluorescent agents. These types of products are not labeled with execution standards or have vague labeling. Long term use can easily irritate the skin and even pose health risks, so they must not be purchased.
